Flying TV was founded in 2003 by broadcaster Mike Smith, an established radio & TV presenter and keen helicopter pilot. Mike's main goal at the outset was to make the process of aerial filming simpler and more affordable, using the latest camera technology and stabilised mounts married to modern and reliable single engine helicopters. On the 25th of January 2019 I woke to severe pains in my head. What followed that was extreme sickness, inability to speak, white blindness, extreme dizziness and weakness down my left side. At the time I had no idea what had happened and stayed in bed for 6 weeks until an MRI scan revealed that I had in fact had a stroke that had affected 2 different parts of my brain. Life not been easy at all since but one thing that kept me going was the thought of being able to race with ginetta. 

So I went out and purchased a car and decided that I would race and raise money for the stroke association. If I could also raise awareness in working age strokes then that would be fantastic. People still seem to think that strokes happen to people of a senior age but strokes in working age people has increased and it's very important to recognise the signs.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.

Within three months he had entered the TeamSport Indoor Go Karting competition and quickly progressed through the leagues. Two years on and Ty has secured his Motorsport UK Competition Licence to reach the top of the karting game.
